What do you predict about Father's situation and what evidence from the text to supports your prediction?

I think that father will get well, not completely better but at least a little better. I think this because, It says that Ben is really smart. I think that his brother and sister will make him watch over Father and then while he is looking after his dad he will discover or make a cure for palsy and his father will get better again.

DeleteI think father will get worse and worse and worse then he will die because in the 1800 the doctors weren't very good. He also can’t eat without help and if you don’t eat you will starve and die.
ReplyDeleteI think that you are right because people who don’t eat usually die. Plus if he doesn't drink either then he will die sooner because you need water to survive.
DeleteTrue that if you don`t eat you will die but aren't Ben ,Nettie, and Harrison taking care of Father and making sure he has enough food. If they keep feeding him good foods like potatoes then I`m sure he will get stronger not weaker. Other then that you did a great job with the rest of your blog report.

DeleteI think Benjamin’s Father will most likely get worse. I think he will lose his ability to talk, walk, and eat. He will probably not get better because the medicine is not that good in the 1800s. There also isn’t a cure for pulsy so he may die. If he doesn’t die he will most likely lose the ability to walk, talk, and eat. In the book there is evidence he cannot talk, eat, or hear.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on you're post. Here`s what I think about your evidence. I believe that there is a cure for everything. I think we are both right, that there is a cure and that there isn't a cure. I think I`m right because there is a cure that hasn't been discovered and I think you're right because there isn't a cure that the doctors have. So until they discover the cure for palsy then Father will have to wait.

ReplyDeleteI think that Ben’s father is not going to live because back in the 1800’s medical care wasn’t the best when someone got sick. When someone had palsy usually they didn’t make because of the medicine or they didn’t have good hospitals like we do today.

DeleteI think before Ben and his siblings get to do the surprise for his dad he will die. The reason I think his dad is going to die because he is really sick and there might not be any doctor even close to his house or maybe there is no good doctor to help with his sickness. Another reason is there might not be the right medicine for his sickness.

I think father is not going to get better and will die. I think he will die because he is sick, their medicine is not very good in 1800s, and they also do not have a lot of doctors. The kids will probably not be able to take care of him anymore.

I think father will die because, the doctor said there was a slim chance that father would die. Also because in the 1800`s medical assistance wasn`t very good. The medicine and a doctors weren't very helpful.

DeleteI think Father is just going to get worse and worse because in the 1800’s the education was not as good as it is now so there were no good doctors or surgeons. The only way to save him is to put him on some not very good medicine to try to get him to feel better.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you that Ben is smart. I really like how you put in reasons why you do think father should live. But I think father will die because the doctor says he if he does not get better will die and there is nothing that they can do to make him get better, so he will have to get better on his own which is very unlikely. That is why I think he will die.
I think Ben will learn that his dad’s illness is very very serious, and he will learn that he will not be able to do anything accept sleep. I know this because Ben’s dad could barely open his mouth.

ReplyDeleteI think that Ben’s understanding of his dad’s illness has changed because he realizes that he is very ill and can't feed himself or do anything. Ben probably knows he has a good chance of dying.
